Did you know that Australia produces 64 million tonnes of plastic per year (as shown by the National Waste Report 2014-2015). I’m pretty sure that every person in Australia uses single-use plastic every day – do you? With every year there will be more and more plastic in our oceans and by 2021 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea! This is made worse because many amazing marine animals are also being caught in our nets and reducing the life in our oceans.

Did you see that terrible video of a turtle with a straw up its nose? Marine animals area eating plastic, starving and suffocating in our pollution. How are animals going to stay alive and feed their babies when we are ruining their environment?

Well, it’s our job to fix what we have done – what will you be doing about it?

If you want to learn more about how climate change is affecting animals then I watched a great show on Netflix called “Our Planet” and I think you should watch it. 

From ants to polar bear, to exotic jungles to the deepest seas, open your eyes to Our Planet. It is narrated by the famous scientist Sir David Attenborough.

In the Arctic the ice is melting.
The Arctic has been fine for 30 billion years. But things have been changing quickly and now there is half the amount of ice that there has always been. This is bad for the polar bears because if the ice disappears, the polar bears disappear.
